I think we all feel from time to time that we are putting more into a friendship than the other. Or we feel like we are always doing the initiating and no one seems to invite us to anything. A good friendship should never be one-sided, but when I start to feel this way, I ask myself what the other might be thinking and try to get in their shoes. I usually find that there is probably a lot going on for the other and the best response is to simply be a friend rather than adding consternation for the other.
The friendship isn’t all about me, after all, and if I’d like it to change, I have just as much say in that as the other.
