Apparently one of the many indecipherable taxes you get on your cell phone bill in the US is to raise funds in support of the Spanish-American War.

Let’s repeal that, shall we? Or at least redirect the funds to something useful, like paying down the debt or funding Social Security. Really, if I don’t get the money back, at least let me help pay for something that’s actually happening.

I also wonder if there is now a surplus on the budget line-item for the Spanish-American War. A lot of people have cell phones and I’m sure just a few dollars from each of us in a month pays for that war with inflation the way it has gone (also considering the tax has been active for over a century).
