Maybe a way of thinking about the unconditional thing is not just treating others how you would have them treat you.

This seems strikingly obvious now that I’ve thought it enough to type it, but maybe it’s about treating others how you would like to be treated by them, but either not expecting them or knowing fully that they won’t actually treat you how you treat them.

In that, it seems critical to have a good grounding in God’s love for you otherwise you’re risking living a life feeling entirely unloved, or at least not loved as you love others.

Given my own problems realizing God’s love for me, the things that bother me are suddenly not all that surprising.
