This was worth linking to now rather than Friday.

The opening credits to The Simpsons done in real life. Accurate and amazing. What will people with free time, video cameras, free editing software, and an internet connection come up with next?

UPDATE: This appears to actually have been created by British Sky Broadcasting.

You can catch the best part of the Super Bowl at MSN.

Google Video also has versions up and formatted to work on your iPod, though I haven’t confirmed this yet (aside from the fact that they exist).

Dave Winer really wants The West Wing to continue. I tend to agree, but disagree about the sets. Sub-par (or non-existant) sets would be distracting. While we probably tend to not notice them now, they add the sense of realism that can make great dialogue realistic rather than ridiculous.

How about this: set up the show as a radio show? You get the same dialogue without the cost of sets.

It’s a post like this that reminds me why I read blogs. Specifically Maryam’s blog.

I’m sure I have Red Trucks in my life. Every once in a while when I’m in Temple City visiting my folks, I toy with the idea of driving past the house my high school girlfriend lived in. I’m sure her family is still there, but she has left that particular nest to get married and teach up a north a ways from here, last I heard. So there’s no one to get there even I wanted to. Still, I wonder what would happen if I bumped into her somewhere.

I’m not sure how you remove that kind of Red Truck, assuming you even should. There is nothing I hate there, but there are some regrets.

After seven seasons, The West Wing has officially been cancelled. The decision was made before the passing of John Spencer (and also neaty deals with creating a story without him in it since the VP is pretty much done with the election at this point anyway). The last episode will be in May and end with the inauguration of the new president. This also leaves open the possibility of the election really going either way since the writers won’t have to live with the decision.

For me, I think the time is right. Actually, it was probably about a year ago. The move to Sunday this season was definitely a sign of things to come.

In the same report from AP, Las Vegas will be moving to Friday nights in March and Law and Order will be bumped an hour on Wednesday nights to compete with Lost

I’m watching The Bachelor and don’t ask why. I just saw a girl tell the guy she’s moving into the reproductive phase of life. Huh?

What this come to? Why am I watching? Well, the girls are cute, I guess. And the cute Canadian girl got the “you can’t be dismissed” rose. Still, it seems like the point is to get a bunch of women together to get pissed at each other and throw themselves at a man they don’t know. And we watch it.

I’ve been watching a lot more TV lately anyway. From getting Stargate SG-1 from Netflix (which I’ve really enjoyed watching) to viewing my seasons of Babylon 5 collection, to West Wing, to The Simpsons, to Las Vegas, I’ve got a good running with the TV shows. Does it dumb me down? Yeah, I think it does.

Will I do anything about it? Not tonight.

Link - West Wing and John Spencer

Dave Winer has a couple of comments about what West Wing may do following the death of John Spencer (who played Leo McGarry).

Also on this topic: Steve Gillmor

Some folks have decided that the five-year mission of Kirk’s Enterprise should actually be five years long (as opposed to the three that aired on television back in the day). They’re doing one episode every year or so, but the schedule looks like they’ll be picking up the pace in 2006.

I’ve downloaded the first episode and viewed it. These folks have really done a bang-up job and I take my hat off to them. The special effects are wonderful, the acting is right on par with the original series almost to an uncanny point of detail, and the costuming and sets are dead on.

The first two episodes of season four are up with two more on the way for next year.

I watched a cartoon this morning that really caught my attention. Liberty’s Kids satisfied my History Channel addiction pretty well. It’s a cartoon placed during the late 1700’s following the events that lead up to the Revolutionary War through the eyes of kids (of course). It takes some license to fit the kids into the story and it into a half-hour show, but I still found it quite entertaining!

So I was supposed to watch Prison Break tonight on Fox to give it one last chance before deciding if it’s worth my time or not. Instead, while I did watch a good portion of the show, I kept flipping back and forth to Gilmore Girls on WB. Which won out for me? Keep reading.
