It’s about time we had a Congress that isn’t from the same party as the President again.  Maybe now we’ll see some real discussion coming out of the capitol.

Here’s hoping these results are confirmed soon.  Still haven’t seen anything on the California Governor races (haven’t looked very hard either).  Please, no more Governator!  It’s just dumb.

This was one of the best interviews I’ve seen on the DailyShow to date.  Enjoy it.

Rex Hammond has some good words about the fear mongering going on today with the terrorism and security threats going on.

Who needs terrorists causing terror when we have the evening news?

I definitely want to see this.

If you’ve ever been a man, there are some unspoken social rules when it comes to being in a public restroom.  I, for one, think it’s a poor place to have a pickup meeting (I’m kind of busy, you know?) while others seem to think the men’s restroom is the best place to discuss the big project.  Most men seem to agree that there is a degree of uncomfortableness being in the restroom together by chance or otherwise.

jonsonblog has a great write up that is apparently true of the social structure of the men’s restroom running amok. I’ve never gone to such great lengths myself, but can easily see where any man could.

Looks like China has blocked any RSS Feed created with FeedBurner. This isn’t the first time China has blocked something from outside their borders on the web, but this is a huge deal.

RSS is becoming bigger and bigger. By blocking a rather popular services for tracking how many people are using a feed, this effectively cuts off an entire country to many valuable news sources and other services brought to us by RSS (podcasts and video podcasts, for instance).

What’s next from China? Is there anything FeedBurner can do to get let into that country again? Would they want to get back in given the stipulations that may be invovled?

Update: Looks like the ban only lasted a day.  Maybe someone flipped a switch they weren’t supposed to flip?

The State of the Union Visualizer will show you all of the annual speeches given by each president and show words used a significant number of times as well as the speech in its entirety.

The most interesting thing to me is that it also shows the grade level of the speech. And it has, not surprisingly, declined over the last 200+ years. President George Washington set the bar with a speech at grade level 22.4 and just over 1000 words. President George W. Bush’s latest ranks at 9.6 with over 5000 words.

For perspective, the last to break the 10.0 grade was President Ronald Reagan. President Jimmy Carter was the last to have a speech past High School at 15.3 in 1981 with 33,000+ words. What did he have to say, you wonder? Click on a word in the speech to read it.

Finally, the last President to break a bachelor’s level speech (assuming grade 16 is the senior year of college) was President Woodrow Wilson in 1920 with 18.2 and 2699 words.

Interesting stuff, no?
