In an odd turn of events, it seems that my apartment complex residents didn’t set off tons of firecrackers late into the night on July 4, 2007.
In the past, this festive day has brought tons of firecrackers for the entire day. These have ranged from the hand-held sparklers to shooting aerials off directly into obviously dry trees. This year, there were firecrackers a bit during the day, but the complex was eerily quiet the entire night.
Maybe these mid-week holidays are a better idea than most people give credit…

Yeah, it was a bit creepy yesterday to have very little activity and noise from our two loud downstairs neighbors. Even when we came home at 1 am, there was nothing crackin’.
You should have seen down town yesterday. Only like 3 cars driving around and we went out twice. The only bad traffic was of course by our side of town because that’s where everyone was. And there was a random pair of Vespa’s riding around all over town all day. We ran into them like 5 times, each time we were out and about.
I guess all the crazy people shooting off fireworks met at our neighbor’s house. They (about 20 guys and neighbor’s daughter) shot off aerials at 3 am in morning, prompting me to go out and inform them of the time. The whole neighborhood is upset about it.
